UN official strongly objects to China’s forced repatriation of North Korean refugees


the UN’s top official on North Korea’s
human rights situation says China’s forced repatriation of North Korean
refugees contradicts the principle of non-refoulement which forbids nations
from returning asylum seekers to a country where they will face persecution
speaking at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday Thomas Ohia quint Ana
urged Beijing to take discreet measures he added that he has obtained
information that an increasing number of North Korean refugees had been detained
in China over the past six months he also said food insecurity is reaching
an alarming level in the north with nearly 40% 4:0 of its population or 11
million people under nourished
